We are seeking an exceptional senior leader with strong commercial capability and deep industry insight to lead and grow SAGE’s national Energy Sector business.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, the Head of Energy is responsible for developing and executing SAGE’s national Energy Sector strategy while delivering measurable sales and market growth.

The role carries national responsibility for sector growth, pipeline development and strategic client engagement. It combines strategic leadership with hands-on commercial execution, including leading major pursuits, strengthening executive-level client relationships and expanding SAGE’s presence across generation, transmission, distribution, renewables and emerging energy technologies.

The Head of Energy will act as a key industry representative for SAGE while working closely with internal leadership teams to convert strategic opportunities into successful project delivery.

In this role you will:

• Develop and implement a national Energy Sector growth strategy identifying priority markets, customers, technologies and service opportunities.

• Lead major business development opportunities from identification through pursuit strategy, proposal development and contract award.

• Establish and grow strategic relationships with key energy clients, utilities, developers and industry partners.

• Act as Executive Sponsor for key national energy clients, strengthening long-term strategic relationships.

• Analyse industry trends, market shifts and emerging technologies to identify new opportunities aligned to the energy transition.

• Collaborate with State delivery teams to ensure successful execution of the sector growth strategy.

• Identify opportunities for commercial partnerships, strategic alliances and acquisitions that strengthen SAGE’s energy offering.

• Provide commercial leadership on major tenders, proposals and strategic pursuits.

• Set and manage sector budgets, driving sales growth and margin improvement.

• Report regularly on sector performance including pipeline development, revenue forecasts and strategic initiatives.

Skills & Experience:

We are seeking an accomplished energy sector professional with strong commercial capability and the credibility to engage with executives, engineers and project teams across complex infrastructure environments.

You will bring both strategic thinking and a proven ability to win and deliver major opportunities.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

• 10+ years’ experience within the energy sector, ideally at a senior leadership or executive level.

• Strong understanding of energy infrastructure including generation, renewables, transmission, distribution or grid technologies.

• Proven track record in business development, major project pursuits and strategic account management.

• Strong commercial acumen including experience developing and executing growth strategies and delivering measurable sales outcomes.

• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence at executive and board level.

• Strategic thinking capability aligned with business growth objectives.

• An established professional network within the Australian energy infrastructure sector.

Desirable:

• Qualification in engineering, project management or business management.

• Experience within industrial automation, electrical infrastructure or control systems integration environments.
